Juniors train at Mission Inn and utilize the National Training Center gym there for Strength and Conditioning. CAMP DATES: The camp is held throughout the summer, usually from around June 1 to the end of August. These are five-day camps where the kids arrive on a Sunday and train from Monday through Friday. FACILITIES/EQUIPMENT: Campers practice at the GGGA private facility and play Mission Inn golf courses. They have access to TrackMan, K-Vest and other leading training devices. Eduffi is used as an important part of the program, and parents are also invited to participate. AGE GROUPS: Ages range from 10–18 for both boys and girls. The groups are divided primarily by age, but also by ability so that there is some flexibility based on the dynamics of each situation. LODGING: Campers lodge with host parents at Vistas of Lost Lake in Clermont, FL, an attractive condominium complex located about 20 minutes from the practice facility. The gated grounds include a swimming pool, gymnasium and other quality amenities. EVENING/WEEKEND ACTIVITIES: The Gary Gilchrist summer camps are all about fun, so during downtime attendees are treated to a variety of enjoyable activities, including movies, theme parks, shopping and other pastimes. LENGTH OF OPERATION: The GGGA summer golf camps are now entering their 9th year. Typically, they serve about 60 to 80 juniors per week during the summer months. UNIQUE FEATURES: “We train in five different areas…not just the technical aspect of golf,” says Grant Balcke, Director of Training. “There is a personalized plan for each child, and Gary Gilchrist is onsite almost the entire time. So kids can touch base with a world class instructor, as well as see and meet world class players who come through the facility all the time.” InternationalJuniorGolfAcademy(IJGA) LOCATION: Hilton Head, South Carolina. Camp attendees train on six different golf courses within the Hilton Head/Bluffton area, including world famous Harbour Town. CAMP DATES: Camp sessions are held all summer long, beginning June 5th , for 10 consecutive weeks. Guests may choose one week or multi-week stays, as well as half-day or one-day camps. Instructors can also coordinate tournaments, including transportation and supervision, for the young golfers while they’re at the camp. FACILITIES/EQUIPMENT: Besides access to all of the fun and challenging Brown Golf Man- agement courses, camp attendees can take advantage of two TrackMan launch monitors on site, along with a SAM PuttLab analysis & training system and a BodyTrac program to measure how young golfers are using their weight, force and power. AGE GROUPS: Kids as young as 8 or 9, and up to 20 years of age, are invited to attend an IJGA summer golf camp. Golfers are grouped by their age and ability. LODGING: Supervised by residential instructors, young guests stay overnight in two and three-bedroom apartments on the grounds. Fully furnished, the suites even include functional kitchens. EVENING/WEEKEND ACTIVITIES: A multitude of chaperoned activities are available, from movies and shopping, to video games, the local water park, laser tag and even beach outings. LENGTH OF OPERATION: IJGA has been successfully running its camps for over 20 years. UNIQUE FEATURES: “We offer world class instruction and a great learning environment that provides commonality with other passionate young golfers,” notes Patrick O’Toole, IJGA’s Director of International Business Development. “Our summer programs, which are personalized to meet each individual’s unique goals and capabilities, attract young people from all over the world.” U.S.GolfCamp LOCATION: Saltsburg, Pennsylvania, just 35 miles from Pittsburgh. The boarding school on the property has its own private golf course for convenient everyday play. Kids also have access to six other golf courses. CAMP DATES: Camp is in session for eight weeks in the summer, during which time attendees stay for anywhere from one to eight weeks (two-four weeks is most popular). Presently, the camp attracts junior golfers from all over the USA as well as from 30 different countries. FACILITIES/EQUIPMENT: In addition to the private golf course that is exclusively for the campers, a $10 million athletic center with state-of-the-art fitness center, swimming pools, tennis courts and even a club-making & repair shop are located on the premises. Instructors utilize the FlightScope monitor, TrackMan, BodyTrac, laser putting tools and an advanced club-fitting system. Using a V1 Digital Coaching System, weekly video updates are emailed home to parents. AGE GROUPS: The age range for campers is 9-18, and both boys and girls are welcome. This might include younger kids who simply like golf or older ones who are prepping for a college golf scholarship. LODGING: Young guests take up residence in the nicely furnished, air conditioned dorms of the popular Kiski School, a boarding school for boys in the non-summer months. There is a staff member within two doors of every camper’s room. EVENING/WEEKEND ACTIVITIES: The choices are almost endless for entertainment, including tennis tourneys, diving events, water balloon fights, ice cream trips, putt-putt golfing and an indoor theater that often features Wii golf. Instructors also create friendly golfing competitions after dinner, such as longest drive, closest to the pin and speed golf. LENGTH OF OPERATION: This will be the 14th year that U.S. Golf Camps has offered this quality camping experience, which features a student-to-instructor ratio of 4 to 1 for beginners, and 3 to 1 for advanced players, ensuring close personal attention. UNIQUE FEATURES: “Our objective is to make it not just a great golf experience, but a great experience,” says Tim Geddis, Owner of U.S. Golf Camps. “This is a very friendly envi- ronment, where most of our staff returns every year.
