In 2020, while the country was in lockdown, I decided to start a business that would allow me to follow my passion for youth sports and in particular, Junior Golf. That is when Drip Golf was born.
With a son in the sport, I had become acutely aware of the exorbitant costs and expense for families. It is with that in mind that we developed our mission. We were/are determined to develop a company and software system that would help junior golfers follow their dreams yet be affordable for all families. The Drip Golf software system is expected to launch in 2024.
It was also during this time that I met with Eric Murray and Stu Taylor, who were running the Tarheel Golf Foundation. I was able to witness their passion for the sport firsthand, while my son was playing in their events. After many long discussions and a mutual love for the youth in this sport, I decided that this Tour would be the perfect avenue to launch our vision. So, in 2022, we purchased the tour and the Tarheel Junior Golf Tour was born.
The support of the Tarheel Junior Golf Tour (TJGT) continues to grow. It has been our goal to maintain the vision set out by Eric and Stu, while adding a modern flare. Through social media and live stream, it is our hope to reach as many kids as possible. We are on a mission to continue the 20-year history of the tour, which features some of the most elite courses in NC/SC and a very high caliber of player, while also keeping costs down. With all of this in mind it will allow players to showcase talents and coaches to come out and see these players compete at a high level.
This year, we have also developed a partnership with STITCH Golf. It was our hope that we could align with a local company that shares the same values as the TJGT. We have found that in STITCH Golf. They continue to support the tour week in and week out and we are so grateful to have them with us, on this jouney.
With the success of the TJGT, it was a natural decision to want to expand our events throughout the east coast, and bring these events to the masses. This is where we created the Drip Golf Series.
The Drip Golf Series will consist of 4 National Junior Golf Invitational Events. . with a twist. We will have celebrity/motivational sponsors at each event. These celebrities will be onside of the game of golf but those that love the game of golf. These folks will come speak to the players and parents about their journey and what it takes to make it in a difficult world. The goal of these events will be a high-quality golf experience, while getting the players together and having some fun!
Our first Drip Golf Series Event is scheduled for August of this year. The Justin Williams Invitational.
“Mr. Game 7” as he is known won 3 Stanley Cups during his time in the NHL, but it was his knack for always coming through in the clutch that earned him the name “Mr. Game 7”. Since retirement Justin has grown his passion with golf and recently finished 3rd in the PGA Tour Invited Golf Champions/Celebrity event in Dallas.
Drip Golf has come a long way in just a few short years and so much is coming soon.
