It is a per- sonal guideline for attaining success in whatever journey you take to pursue your goals. When you have a code to live by, you make yourself accountable for your actions. By honoring your code, you are respecting yourself and others. It gives your life meaning and purpose. Upholding your code, however, takes mental strength and discipline. MAKEYOUR CODE PERSONAL Here are a couple of great examples of codes that reflect the men- tality of a Champion: Team Quest Champion’s Code by Elite Coach @MattLindland ~ Olympic Silver Medalist & Current Team USA Olympic Wrestling Coach Team Quest Members Will… 1. Be responsible. The buck stops here with your attitude. It’s not your coach’s, trainer’s or teammate’s responsibility – it’s yours. 2. Be professional. Arriving on time is 15 minutes late. Be prepared for the activity. 3. Be the best. Get better every day at what you do. Is there any area where you want to make improvements? Then do it. Do you have a weakness that needs to be a strength? Then put in the extra time. 4. Be humble. Talk less. Listen more. Ask questions and seek answers, and then listen again. 5. Be proactive. Do not be reactive. Respond and initiate before being told or asked by your coaches or teammates. Communication is key. 6. Be focused. When it’s time to make it happen, discipline yourself to do what it takes. There is no sense in doing anything if you are not completely focused on the task, training or competition. 7. Be trustworthy. Your word is your bond and your reputation. Honesty always comes first. 8. Be optimistic. See the best in others and in opportunities. 9. Be curious. Learn constantly. Read everything you can. Ask questions. 10. Be passionate. Love what you do. Do what you love. If this is not what you absolutely love to do, find something else; sport is way too difficult if you don’t love it and all the hard work that comes along with it.
