Just a year later, the demand for Youth on Course in other states could not be denied, and the pro- gram started to expand outside of California in partnership with other state and regional golf associations. This partnership gives participants access to an official handicap index, as well as competi- tive tournaments, and helps make connections with a new demographic of participants. The partnership also opens up doors for Youth on Course to gain new participating courses, as the state and regional golf associations have already established contacts with their local courses. Participating golf associations negoti- ate rates and time restrictions with golf courses before placing them on the official Youth on Course map. There is also an interest form on the Youth on Course website for courses that may want to sign up. As of today, Youth on Course has expanded in partnership with state and regional golf as- sociations to Arizona, Idaho, Illinois, Michi- gan, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah and Washington, and plans to expand nationwide by 2020. In addition to affordable access to golf, North- ern California Golf Association is piloting additional programs for future expansion, in- cluding access to paid high school internships at courses, caddie programs and college schol- arships.
