CAMP DATES: The camp is held from June 4th through August 31st , Monday through Friday. The Academy offers a FLEX program that allows young golfers to customize their weekly camp experience and their tournament schedule. As a result, camp sessions can range anywhere from 1 to 5 days and up. FACILITIES/EQUIPMENT: Kids receive three hours of hands-on instruction each day and play nine holes of golf, with on-course teaching provided to full-day and advanced campers. A wide variety of specialized training technology ensures a strong, all-around teaching environment. Campers also utilize the industry-respected Rick Heard Mastermind Workbook that enables kids to analyze their game and properly manage their attitude and emotions. AGEGROUPS:Ages range from 4-5 years for the Future Stars camp, while half-day and full-day camp sessions accom- modate a wide age range from 5 to 16. Don Law Golf Academy also offers an Under 10 Elite instruction program, as well as advanced camp training for juniors 12 to 19. Whatever the age, the emphasis is on keeping it all fun and competitive. LODGING: Campers board with local families who have kids of similar ages. They get to eat meals with the family and interact in various enjoyable ways. Every family has been thoroughly pre-screened, and most come from within the Mission Bay area of Boca Raton. EVENING/WEEKEND ACTIVITIES: Time away from the course is spent with the host families who create a number of opportunities for their golfing guests to have casual fun and become a part of the family dynamic. LENGTH OF OPERATION: Don Law Golf Academy has been operating since 1999. CAMP DATES: Summer camp runs for seven weeks, from mid-June through the first week in August. FACILITIES/EQUIPMENT: Camp visitors can enjoy the use of the two golf courses, as well as a 15-acre training facility with a practice green, 100-yard circular pitching range with a target green, two chipping areas surrounded by deep bunkers, an elbow-shaped driving range and two indoor hitting bays. All of the latest training equipment is available, from the BodiTrak portable mat that measures ground force and swing movement, to an Odyssey Putting Studio, 4D motion equipment and more. AGEGROUPS:Juniors from 9 to 18 are eligible to attend the camps, which try to limit each group to four or five golfers. LODGING: Campers all stay at the 4-Star Omni Resort, where they are hosted and overseen by a large professional staff. EVENING/WEEKENDACTIVITIES: During camp off-hours, attendees get to visit the local Orlando theme parks, go bowl- ing, play mini-golf, go to movies and visit a wide assortment of Florida golfing landmarks. The camp leaders will occa- sionally set up a tour of the Golf Channel facilities, with an opportunity to meet the various commentators. LENGTH OF OPERATION: The David Leadbetter Golf Academy has been in operation for more than 10 years, and this is the second year for the camp. UNIQUE FEATURES: “The camp is run by world-renowned golf teacher David Leadbetter, and our quality of instruction – with certified instructors – is in a class of its own,” noted Txema Sánchez, Director of Junior Programs for David Leadbetter Golf Academy. “We interact with a very small number of students, so it’s an opportunity for personal training where you can work on any kind of shot.” Instructors show how learning can be fun There are many opportunities for improving your swing technique
